For over six millennia, the red-footed booby has inhabited the Xisha Islands. It is the jewel of the crown of these islands, with its distinctive red feet as its most prominent feature. Known as the most disciplined resident of the Xisha Islands, it ventures out early for food and returns to the island late. Acknowledged as the maritime “navigation bird,” regardless of how far it flies or how adverse the weather, it always finds its way back home.
