China Coast Guard responds to the Philippines’ illegal intrusion into the waters near Zhubi Jiao and Tiexian Jiao
Spokesperson for the China Coast Guard Liu Dejun stated that on May 21, the Philippine vessels No. 3002 and No. 3003, without the permission of the Chinese government, illegally intruded into the waters near China's Zhubi Jiao and Tiexian Jiao of the Nansha Qundao and organized personnel to illegally board Tiexian Jiao.
China Coast Guard lawfully took control measures against the Philippine vessels and boarded the reef for verification and disposal. The on-site operations were professional, standardized, and lawful. From 9:13 to 9:14, the Philippine vessel No. 3002, ignoring China's repeated stern warnings, dangerously approached the China Coast Guard vessel 21559, which was conducting normal rights protection and law enforcement activities, resulting in a collision. The responsibility for this incident lies entirely with the Philippine side.
China has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Qundao and the adjacent waters. The actions of the Philippine side seriously infringe upon China's territorial sovereignty, violate the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, and undermine the peace and stability of the South China Sea. We urge the Philippine side to immediately cease its infringing actions. The Chinese Coast Guard will continue to conduct rights protection and law enforcement activities lawfully in the waters under China's jurisdiction.
