China Coast Guard (CCG) received a report from the Sansha maritime search and rescue center in South China's Hainan Province that a foreign cargo vessel had capsized 55 nautical miles northwest of China's Huangyan Dao, with 21 Filipino crew members on board, according to a release from the CCG's official WeChat account on Friday.
As of 6:00 p.m. on January 23, CCG has rescued 17 people. Among them, 15 are in stable condition, 2 have tragically died.

Following the incident, CCG immediately dispatched two coast guard vessels to the scene to carry out search and rescue operations.
Rescue operations continued until late Friday. CCG has pledged to keep conducting search and rescue efforts in the water where the incident occurred, and to provide food and beverage support, medical checks and rest facilities for the rescued crew members, effectively safeguarding their lives and safety.
