Foreign Ministry Responds to Questions on Not Restricting Fertilizer Exports to the Philippines
The Philippine agriculture secretary stated on March 18 that China has assured the Philippines it will not impose restrictions on fertilizer exports to the country.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Ambassador to Manila met with Philippine energy minister to discuss energy security. During the Foreign Ministry press briefing on March 19, a reporter raised a question regarding energy security.
"China stands ready to strengthen coordination and collaboration with Southeast Asian countries and jointly address energy security issues," Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian answered.
Lin noted that China is a major producer and consumer of fertilizers, as well as a key player in the global fertilizer trade. While meeting its own domestic demand, China also exports part of its fertilizer products to the global market.
