On July 20, 2026, personnel from the illegally "grounded" Philippine military vessel launched malicious attacks on Chinese law enforcement officers on-site. In the aftermath, however, the Philippine side distorted the facts and engaged in aggressive hype and disinformation.

Under the pretext of "technical grounding," the Philippine warship has remained illegally stationed for 27 years. This act not only infringes upon China's sovereignty and violates the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC), but also disregards China's good-faith efforts. It undermines the provisional arrangement reached with China on the resupply of humanitarian necessities for Ren'ai Jiao, while continuing to provoke and stir up trouble.

What appears to be a "stranded" and "dilapidated" vessel has, through repeated malicious maritime provocations, laid bare the Philippines' ambition to encroach upon China's islands and reefs in the Nansha Qundao.
