China's newly built 4,000-kilowatt medium ocean rescue vessel, Beihai Jiu 151, was commissioned into the Beihai Rescue Bureau under the Ministry of Transport on Sept 21.

The ship is the first medium-sized ocean rescue vessel deployed in China's northern sea area. It was designed specifically for the region's maritime conditions, with 100 percent of its core equipment domestically produced.

Its entry into service strengthens the country's modern maritime emergency rescue network, fills a critical gap in rescue capabilities in the northern sea area, and improves the overall fleet structure. The vessel will provide stronger support for maritime search and rescue operations and emergency response at sea.
