Thai Official: Thailand-China Vocational Cooperation Aims at Future Industries
Thailand hopes to expand vocational training cooperation with China into future industries such as clean energy, AI and robotics, and semiconductors, a senior Thai education official said ahead of a major conference in China.
Sanga Taechuasai, deputy secretary-general of Thailand's Office of Vocational Education Commission, told Xinhua in Bangkok that joint "order-based" training programs and Sino-Thai collaborative education models should be broadened to cultivate future-ready skilled workers.
He is set to attend the 2026 World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference in Tianjin from Oct. 15 to 17.
Taechuasai said cooperation has already produced concrete results. Under the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative, the two sides established the China-Thailand Language and Vocational Education College, advancing Chinese language and vocational training.
Through "Chinese + Vocational Skills" programs, students have earned Chinese-standard vocational certificates in fields including electrical engineering, new energy vehicles, mechatronics, electronics and digital business technology. Order-based training programs bring together Thai vocational schools, Chinese educational institutions and Chinese-funded enterprises in Thailand.
Taechuasai praised China's leadership in vocational education, particularly in linking schools with high-tech supply chains and promoting Chinese vocational standards internationally. He said he hopes the Tianjin conference will mark a new starting point for turning consensus into tangible talent-cultivation results.
