China and the 10 ASEAN member states held the 59th Joint Working Group Meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, from October 13 to 15, continuing consultations on a South China Sea code of conduct.

The meeting was co-chaired by Tan Qingsheng, deputy director-general of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of China's Foreign Ministry, and Adina Kamarudin, director-general of the Department of Maritime Affairs of Malaysia's Foreign Ministry.
